· When in doubt, use lowercase text in your searches So if you enter africa you'll find Africa, africa and AFRICA in your results. When you search for Africa, you'll find only Africa .
· Including or excluding words To make sure a specific word is included in all the results use the plus (+) sign before the word. Similarly, to exclude a word from your results use the minus (-) sign. So, to find African Wine that's not chardonay enter africa +wine -chardonay.
· Expand your search using wildcards (*) Typing * at the end of a word will return multiple endings. So searching for wish* will return wish, wishes, wished, and wishbone.
Search for phrases. Enclose your phrase in "double quotation marks". If you're searching for numbers use a hyphen to link the numbers, eg 0800-438-7827

· Try a little Boolean Most search engines recognise Boolean operators. These create specific relationships between words by using (brackets), OR, NOT, AND, and NEAR. AND finds only documents containing all the words or phrases. OR finds documents containing at least one of them. NOT excludes a specific word and NEAR find documents containing both words within 10 words of each other.
